During week 4 I have been given a number of different props to model to put into our level. They have been put on a website called bugnet where all the tasks for each person is given. As I continue working on the props I started working on the park fence prop and decided to have 2 modular pieces that connect together and can be duplicated around the park.
Tuesdays lesson we spoke about what everyone had done and what everyone is planning on doing for the week after. Also we gave people advice on what to do next or change about some of the work they have done. After this lesson I started working on the park fence more and changed a few bits to it to make it look better. The group mentioned modelling a park fence but I think that a wall would look better around the park as it makes it stand out more.
Here is the modular pieces I did for the park wall.
Next step for the park wall is UV mapping it and texturing it. For the fence part of the wall I decided to do an alpha map for it as its easier to do and takes up less time to do.
This is the park wall pieces textured and connected.
Once I textured it i had to make sure that the alpha part would work in UDK. After testing it and changing some of the attributes in UDK I finally got it working.
Thursdays lesson went well. We all went in to get our feedback from the lecturers and they explained what they liked and what they needed for the next meeting with them and what they didn't understand. After they spoke to the group they then went around each of us individually and asked us how we are getting on.
At this point I had a few block out props done and into the map and the park fence done and textured and the TNT untextured. Jon was happy with what I had done and said to carry on working on the props.
After this lesson I took Jon's feedback and worked on more props, but first I decided to texture the TNT because it would look better having the models textured as well.
Here is my TNT UV mapped and textured.
I plan on creating more props soon and working on the phone booth and a few signs.
After uploading this to Facebook for the group to see I was told to make the red brighter and less gritty, here it is again.
